COMMERCIAL UNITS PLANNED FOR SITE AT DISCOUNT SUPERMARKET / May, 2020

Plans have been lodged for a pair of commercial units on a site adjacent to a recently built discount supermarket in West Yorkshire.

The Harris Partnership, for client Eshton Developments, has submitted an application to Wakefield Council for a site off Park Road and Carr Wood Road in Castleford.

The site forms part of a wider parcel of land which was granted hybrid planning consent in 2016, with an Aldi store subsequently developed.

Full planning permission is now sought for the construction of two commercial units adjacent to the foods store.

A 4,400 sq ft garage unit (Unit 1) and a 6,000 sq ft trade counter unit (Unit 2) would be created, together with associated parking.

A planning statement submitted as part of the application said the proposed development would “support the local residential community and economy”.

It added: “The proposed units have been designed to make the most efficient use of the site and to complement each other, providing a contemporary and efficient development.”
