Doncaster Council has agreed to finalise plans and begin construction on a new cinema and five restaurant development. Designed by The Harris Partnership, the development is one of the final pieces of the jigsaw to redevelop the Cultural and Civic Quarter and fulfil the vision outlined in the Urban Centre Masterplan for Doncaster.
The council is now working with cinema operator, Savoy and have interest in the development from local, national and international restaurant providers.?Cllr Bill Mordue, Cabinet Member for Business, Skill and Economic Development, said:
“The cinema and restaurant development is something that all residents have been waiting for, for a long time and it is great that we are in a position to now deliver it. Once this development is complete it will enhance the offer of the Civic and Cultural Quarter and bring even more visitors to Doncaster.”
It is planned for the new development to be open in late 2019, creating more than 100 jobs and bringing more than ￡530,000 of new business rates into the borough.
